Local Governing Body

Dear All Parents and Carers,

My name is Gemma Bushell and as your Chair of Governors, I would like to welcome you all to Parklee Community School.

Parklee is an excellent school, one that is welcoming, caring and allows children to enjoy their learning in order to develop and achieve their goals and to be the best that they can be in order to reach their potential. A huge part of that is our dedicated team of staff. The staff are always willing to talk and support parents and carers with their children’s needs and help them to progress during their time at Parklee.

As the Chair of Governors, it gives me great pleasure to watch the children grow, learn and develop in a happy environment, with a smile on their faces. I am sure you and your children will have a enjoyable experience with us here at Parklee.

Mrs Gemma Bushell
Chair of Governors

School Governors

Gemma Bushell – Chair of Governors

Gemma is a Senior Buyer within the Finance Department in an NHS Mental Health Trust. Gemma has a strong passion for education and is dedicated to supporting the development of students, staff and the wider school community. Gemma has been a Governor since 2019 and brings her work knowledge of finance over into the role as Chair of Governors.  As a Governor, Gemma works closely with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure that the school’s values are upheld. Outside of her role as Chair of Governors, Gemma enjoys watching her children play football.

Geoff Jones – Vice Chair of Governors

Geoff was born in South Wales and has extensive experience in education having taught at high schools for the first twenty years of his career and in primary schools for the last twenty years. Geoff ended his career having been the Headteacher of three different primary schools. Geoff has kept up to date with educational developments by being a local authority governor for both Salford and Wigan. He will always endeavour to make decisions in the best interests of the pupils. Nowadays, Geoff enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, walking the dog and hoping that sometime soon Wales will win a rugby match.

Amanda Pinnington – Governor

Amanda manages the administration for a plumbing company owned by her family. Amanda is a dedicated member of Parklee’s PTA and regularly supports the school with Parklee Tiny Tots Playgroup, Summer Fairs and School trips. Amanda is a mum of three children and enjoys participating in school events. Amanda became a Governor because she wants to support the school to drive improvement.

Jill Da Costa – Governor

Jill has worked in education for over 30 years and recently retired from being Headteacher in a Salford school. Jill continues to support her passion for EYFS and SEND in Salford following retirement and serves on EHCP panels and support resource provisions.

Jill always wanted to become a governor, as she felt she had the skills and knowledge to support a local school in various ways.

Jill lives local to the school and is keen to support the community activities as well as the governance of the school.

Maggie Carson – Parent Governor

Maggie is a qualified teacher of English and currently works at a local High School. She is also trained in Primary education.  Maggie hopes that her 22 years of teaching experience and local knowledge can contribute positively to the school.

Maggie has three children at the school in Year 5, Year 3 and Reception class. All of them have excellent experiences and education at the school and Maggie finds it a privilege being a parent Governor at Parklee Primary School.
